Am I Ready
to Do This Work?

An honest self-assessment is the first professional act of an expert witness. Work through this tool before pursuing your first engagement.

Before We Begin
Three Baseline Requirements
Each of these is individually disqualifying. Answer honestly — this tool only helps you if you use it as a professional mirror, not a hurdle to clear.
Question 1 of 3
Not Ready to Proceed
One or more of the baseline requirements is not currently in place. Expert witness work requires each of these to be active and unresolved before you pursue any engagement.

This is not a permanent door closed. It is an honest assessment of where you are right now. Most of these items can be addressed within a defined timeframe.

Do not pursue expert witness work until each baseline item is resolved. The professional and legal risks are real, and the PA profession's credibility in the legal system is built one expert at a time.

When each of these items is in place, return to complete the full assessment. The expert witness market will still be here, and you will be better positioned to enter it on solid ground.

The Assessment
Readiness Checkpoints
Answer each one as it stands today, not where you hope to be. There are no wrong answers, only accurate ones.
Item 1 of 13
Section 4 · Professional Goals
Communication and Temperament

These qualities are not prerequisites. They are the professional standard to build toward. Review them honestly as goals, not a checklist.
